Maki has just released his long-awaited single, titled “Namumula.”
Continuing his recurring theme of making tracks about colors, the upbeat pop track tackles the internal conflict of knowing whether or not you should pursue someone who isn’t good for you — even if you’re hurting yourself along the way.
Together with the track’s release, an accompanying music video directed by Kerbs Balagtas and produced by YouMeUs was shared by Maki, and co-stars the track’s producer Nhiko Sabiniano and Jannah Chua, who plays his love interest. As it translates the track’s lyricism into a series of comical visuals, it makes for a compelling music video that channels Maki’s infectious charm all throughout. “Namumula” stands as the highly anticipated follow-up to the chart-breaking sensation “Dilaw,” which went on to claim the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Philippines‘ Hot 100 and Top Philippine Songs for four consecutive weeks. The track currently stands at the No. 2 position on both charts (dated August 17, 2024), while his breakthrough hit “Saan” ranks at No. 18 and “Kailan” places at No. 100 on the Hot 100.
Just recently, the Tarsier Records hitmaker also announced his first-ever solo concert, Maki-Concert Sa New Frontier Theatre, which is scheduled to take place for two nights on November 29 and 30, 2024. Also recently, he headlined his very own ‘Dilaw Fest’ last May 25 at the McKinley Whiskey Park in Taguig City, where he was accompanied by fellow artists and friends like Nameless Kids, Ysanygo, jikamarie, Angela Ken, Janine, and Jolianne.
