Jackie Lou Blanco has accepted the Billboard Philippines Women in Music Icon Award on behalf of her mother Pilita Corrales at the Women in Music event held at the Samsung Hall, SM Aura on March 22.

The award was presented by Billboard Philippines’ Editor-in-Chief, Bret Jackson. In his spiel, he shared, “The Billboard Philippines Icon Award is given to a legend who transcends generations, genres, trends, and in this case, even languages. A trailblazer who has defied time with each graceful bend through her exceptional achievements and momentous contributions in the rich history of OPM. A symbol of Filipino artistry itself.

“When we were doing the special issue for Women in Music, I got to know a little bit more about my fellow Visayan and music icon Pilita Corrales. Did you know that Pilita did not always sing in her trademark bend? She started out singing while playing guitar on La Taverna on DZPI? Throughout her storied career, Pilita was soft but firm in her decisions, especially when it came to her family. She had a wanderlust in her that was strongly tethered to her homeland…I am honored to present Billboard Philipines’ Icon award to Pilita Corrales.”

Upon receiving the award, Jackie Lou Blanco said, “”
