Billboard Philippines Women in Music Rule Breaker awardee Ena Mori has joined the blue carpet for the first ever Billboard Philippines Women in Music Awards, held on March 22 at the Samsung Hall in SM Aura.

In an exclusive interview with Billboard Philippines, the “Heartache Generation” singer opened up about what it means to be a rule breaker in today’s music industry.

“I was actually shocked that I was [the] Rule Breaker [honoree] because I was like…breaking what rules?” she said with a laugh. “It means that, I guess, I don’t conform to an idealistic, clean look. It’s pretty cool that we have an award for it. I think it just expands the possibilities of how female artists can be.”

Ena Mori’s signature avant-garde aesthetic and pop sound has landed her numerous accolades over her career. Just last year, her debut album DON’T BLAME THE WILD ONE! was named as the Album of the Year at the Awit Awards. She has also performed in multiple showcases abroad, such as the Tiger Den showcase at South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas. SXSW is considered as the biggest international music showcase.

She is set to perform her latest single “Heartache Generation” at the event. Ena Mori joins other performers and honorees Sarah Geronimo, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Moira dela Torre, and BINI.
