Zayn returns with his fifth studio album, Konnakol, marking a decade since the release of his debut solo record, Mind of Mine.
Released through Mercury Records, the album is a follow-up to “Dusk Til Dawn” singer’s fourth album, Room Under the Stairs, in May 2024.
In a press statement, Zayn talked about the meaning behind the album’s title: “Konnakol, in its definition, is the act of creating percussive sounds with one’s voice, but what it means to me lies somewhere much deeper. It is a sound that holds the reverberation of a time before words existed.”
He adds that he finds inspiration in his heritage since he started his own music, attributing his growth as a musician through the years.
The album’s cover, which features Zayn’s face morphed into a snow leopard, was first teased at his mini Las Vegas residency, held over seven nights, in January. The shows featured a mix of fan-favorite tracks like “PILLOWTALK,” “iT’s YoU,” and “sHe,” as well as unreleased songs “Nusrat,” “Used to the Blues,” and “Fatal.”
