Taylor Swift‘s highly-anticipated follow-up to 2022’s Midnights is finally here, with The Tortured Poets Department available now on all streaming and digital platforms.

The pop superstar first made the announcement of the record at the 2024 Grammy Awards and has only divulged cryptic teasers and messages to her fans prior to the release of the record. But with the album now finally out into the world, Swift shared a heartfelt message behind the conceptualization of the project on her official social media platforms, stating: “The Tortured Poets Department. An anthology of new works that reflect events, opinions and sentiments from a fleeting and fatalistic moment in time – one that was both sensational and sorrowful in equal measure. This period of the author’s life is now over, the chapter closed and boarded up.”

She continues, “There is nothing to avenge, no scores to settle once wounds have healed. And upon further reflection, a good number of them turned out to be self-inflicted. This writer is of the firm belief that our tears become holy in the form of ink on a page. Once we have spoken our saddest story, we can be free of it. And then all that’s left behind is the tortured poetry. THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT is out now.”

The Tortured Poets Department features noteworthy collaborations with Post Malone and Florence + The Machine, and follows after last year’s release of her re-recordings of 1989 (Taylor’s Version) and Speak Now (Taylor’s Version). Swift is currently embarking on her highly sought-after ‘The Eras Tour’ which is set to continue its European and North American run later this May 2024.
