UNIS have just covered another hit from BINI as well as reacted to music videos from SB19 and other Filipino artists.
On August 7, the rising K-pop girl group guested on the YouTube channel hello82 — an American music and entertainment company with a focus on K-pop — to react to music videos from Filipino artists.
The first artist they reacted to was BINI, with UNIS watching the music videos for the Nation’s Girl Group’s viral track “Pantropiko” as well as latest single “Cherry On Top,” When reacting to “Pantropiko” — which UNIS did a cover of before — leader Hyeonju stated how much the group likes BINI, sharing how all of them were so obsessed with the breakthrough hit. “It’d be nice if we could do a concept like this someday,” expressed Filipino member Elisia, to which everyone else agreed to.
Meanwhile, when reacting to “Cherry On Top,” Elisia noted BINI’s perfect synchronization while fellow Filipino member Gehlee expressed how the song’s concept would also suit UNIS as well. Following this, the group danced to the track, with hello82 posting a separate video of the group covering the song in pairs.
“We really look up to you. I hope that we’ll be able to interact soon and tara, ‘SUPERWOMAN’ challenge tayo (let’s do the ‘SUPERWOMAN’ challenge together)!” stated Elisia, when asked what message they would like to give BINI.
Alongside BINI, UNIS also reacted to P-pop kings SB19’s “GENTO” — a song that caught many of the members by surprise upon finding out that the hit track was actually a Filipino song. Nana stated how the song’s dance portion in the chorus was the most memorable part, stating how “powerful” and “cool” it is. Meanwhile, her fellow Japanese member Kotoko expressed her delight at the song’s wordplay between “gento” and “bento” (a Japanese-style lunch box).
In addition to these two P-pop frontrunners, the octet also watched the videos of Ben&Ben‘s “Araw-Araw” and December Avenue‘s “Kung ‘Di Rin Lang Ikaw” featuring Moira Dela Torre, which both drew very emotional reactions from the girl group. Meanwhile, upon being asked if they knew any Filipino bands, Gehlee shared how her dad loves the Eraserheads so much, stating how listening to their songs reminds her of home.
Alongside reacting to the music videos, UNIS were also asked what they knew about the Philippines. Hyeonju, who is half Filipino, recalls the group visiting a Filipino restaurant and eating barbecue and sinigang while Gehlee expresses how much the group loves Jollibee. Gehlee also shares about usage of the word “po” to express politeness, to which Hyeonju and Seowon immediately react to by saying “hello,” “sorry,” and “thank you,” in Korean and Japanese, followed by “po” at the end.
