The inductees for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Class of 2025 have been announced.

Established in 1983, the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame or the RRHOF Foundation was co-founded by music industry multi-hyphenate Ahmet Ertegun. It began inducting artists and industry figures in the year of 1986, which included Elvis Presley, Little Richard, Buddy Holly, Ray Charles, Chuck Berry, and more.

The induction into the Hall of Fame is held annually, with each year’s chosen inductees either honored at the Foundation’s location in Cleveland during even-numbered years and in either Los Angeles or New York City during odd-numbered years. Inductees usually range from 6 to around 12 acts chosen by both industry authorities and fans. For artists in particular, their eligibility is determined by the factor of their first recording was published at least 25 years prior to the current year. Artists can be nominated multiple times before they are chosen to be inducted.

The inductees for 2025 were revealed on the popular singing competition show American Idol by host Ryan Seacrest last April 27, 2025 (Sunday). This year’s inductees – 13 in total – are divided into the Hall of Fame’s four categories. Namely. these are the Performer category, the Musical Influence Award, Musical Excellence Award, and the Ahmet Ertegun Award.

Performer

The artists inducted into the Performer category is determined by their influence and extensive contributions to the music genre they belong in. After being included in an official nominees list, these acts were chosen by a voting composed of around 500 or more music industry experts from all over the world before.

This 2025, seven acts were chosen to be inducted. Namely, these artists are rock supergroup Bad Company, singer and dancer Chubby Checker, rock and blues singer Joe Cocker, pop icon and actress Cyndi Lauper, hip-hop duo OutKast, grunge icons Soundgarden, and rock duo The White Stripes.

Musical Influence

Those included in Musical Influence Award category are artists whose works have made a profound impact on their genre and the artists within it. Compared to the Performer category, this award’s inductees is solely chosen by a dedicated committee.

Two inductees are included in this category for the 2025 list. This includes iconic 80’s hip-hop group Salt-N-Pepa and renowned rock singer-songwriter Warren Zevon.

Musical Excellence

The Musical Excellence category shines the spotlight on the people – primarily musicians – whose expertise have been dedicated to their work from behind the scenes, helping artists inside the studio, on stage, and beyond. A special committee, composed mostly of producers, are the ones who choose artists for this category.

This 2025, 3 individuals were chosen to become inductees. Namely, these are record producer, R&B songwriter, and Philadelphia soul co-creator Thom Bell; prolific pianist and organist Nicky Hopkins; and veteran bassist Carol Kaye.

Ahmet Ertegun Award

The Ahmet Ertegun Award – named after the Hall of Fame’s co-founder – is also dedicated to honoring people who work in music from behind the scenes. Specifically, the likes of songwriters, label executives, record producers, live events organizers, music journalists, and more.

This year, only one inductee is part of the list, which is Lenny Waronker – a renowned record producer and music executive, most notably recognized for his time as the president of Warner Bros. Records, as well as being the co-founder and co-chair of the now-defunct DreamWorks Records.

This year’s Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony is set to happen on November 8, 2025 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California. It is set to be livestreamed on Disney+, while a special on ABC will also premiere later on.
