Taylor Swift leads the charge for this year’s MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) — with a notable amount of ten nominations across the ceremony’s twenty-one categories.

Among her plethora of nominations, the majority of the pop juggernaut’s nods stem from the dreamy cinematic visualizer to her lead single from The Tortured Poets Department — “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone. The music video was nominated for the award show’s grand prize, Video of the Year, as well as Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Collaboration, and a number of technical categories.

Should Swift win Video of the Year, it would mark her fifth victory in that category, adding another Moonman trophy to her already stacked shelf of awards. Yet beyond Swift’s multiple nods, her “Fortnight” collaborator Post Malone also picked up an impressive total of nine nominations including another one for Best Collaboration, thanks to his hit track with Morgan Wallen on “I Had Some Help.”

Ariana Grande, Eminem, and Sabrina Carpenter also earned a plentiful amount of six nominations each, although this marks the first time that Carpenter has ever been nominated for the MTV VMAs. Other first-time nominees at this year’s ceremony include Teddy Swims, Benson Boone, Tyla, Chappell Roan, Victoria Monet, Gracie Abrams, and Morgan Wallen, among others.

Aside from Swift’s “Fortnight,” the major contenders for the prestigious Video Of The Year award include Eminem’s “Houdini,” Ariana Grande’s “we can’t be friends (wait for your love),” Billie Eilish’s “Lunch,” Doja Cat’s “Paint The Town Red,” and SZA’s “Snooze.” On the other hand, the Song of the Year category features “Fortnight,” Carpenter’s Espresso,” Beyoncé’s Texas Hold ‘Em,” Jack Harlow’s Lovin on Me,” Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,”and Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control.”

Fan voting for the majority of the 2024 MTV VMA categories begins today on the VMA Website here, and will run through a voting period that concludes on August 30, 2024. However, the Best New Artist category will continue to be open until the actual ceremony, which is set to take place on September 10, 2024.

This year’s MTV VMA Awards will air live from the UBS Arena outside of New York City, USA. Stay tuned to this space to see where the show will be available to be broadcast live.
