St. Vincent (also known as Annie Clark) has just released a new single titled “Broken Man” –– which serves as the first glimpse of her seventh studio album, All Born Screaming.

The latest single marks quite the stark departure from her last two records (Daddy’s Home and Masseduction), and features an industrial-rock sound that is reminiscent of the likes of groups like Nine Inch Nails. An accompanying music video to the track was also released and was directed by Alex Da Corte and shot in Philadelphia, USA. As a preview of what to expect from the upcoming album, Clark described the rest of the project as “darker and harder” than her previous output, with an “urgent and psychotic” sound that’s unlike anything we’ve heard before. Speaking on the record’s sound, the multi-Grammy winner said in a statement: “There are some places, emotionally, that you can only get to by taking the long walk into the woods alone — to find out what your heart is really saying. It sounds real because it is real.”

All Born Screaming is set to span a total of ten tracks and marks Clark’s first album that is solely produced. However, the record has been confirmed to feature guest appearances from the Foo Fighters‘ Dave Grohl, as well as indie artist Cate Le Bon among numerous others. Under the St. Vincent moniker, she released her critically acclaimed record Daddy’s Home last 2022 –– which was awarded the Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album last year, as well as a nod for Producer of the Year (Non-Classical) for Jack Antonoff’s production on the project. But also in 2019, both Antonoff and Clark also won the Grammy for Best Rock Song for “Masseduction.”

The forthcoming album is expected to be released this April 26, 2024, and will be released under Clark’s own label, Total Pleasure Records. The full tracklist has already been revealed, with pre-orders for the record now open here.
