On October 22, the Filipino indie rock collective spacedog spacecat announced the release of two new singles this November, entitled ““One More Time (Fuzzbucket)” and “Sky is Burning.” This serves as the band’s follow-up to 2023’s “Counting the Days” and “Okaeri” — their first dual single release.
In a press statement, the two new singles are said to showcase “the band’s signature fuzz-driven sound” and “[taking] it to new heights — grittier, bolder, and more comfortable in wallowing in despair.” “One More Time (Fuzzbucket)” is described as “a dysfunctional duet that perfectly complements the chaos embedded in the song’s lyrics” while “Sky is Burning” serves as a “deeply personal ode about the blurring lines between fear and hope in the midst of turmoil.” Both songs are set to be released this Friday, November 1.
Formed during the pandemic, spacedog spacecat is composed of notable names from various bands in the local indie music scene. They are vocalist and guitarist Jam Lorenzo (The Geeks, Mirror Masks) and vocalist and guitarist RJ Mabilin (The Axel Pinpin Propaganda Machine), vocalist, guitarist, and keyboardist Evee Simon (Megumi Acorda, July XIV, Eggboy), bassist Marc Inting (Twin Lobster, Slow Hello, Eggboy), violinist Janine Samaniego (Tuwina), and drummer Jerros Dolino (Megumi Acorda, Read Between the Lions). They are best known for the songs “Seeking a Friend,” “Beach etc.,” “My Midori,” and more. Their debut album Fuzz Sounds was released last September 17, 2022.
