SB19 have officially released their performance of “GENTO” from The First Take on streaming platforms.

The First Take is a Japanese YouTube channel that showcases artists in a studio setting, performing with one rule: they only get one take for each performance. The music show features both well-known artists as well as up-and-coming acts from Japan, like LiSA, YOASOBI, and Atarashii Gakko!, among others. Every now and then, they have also featured a number of overseas artists on the show, including aespa, Stray Kids, Avril Lavigne, (G)-IDLE, and more.

On July 1, the Kings of P-pop made their first appearance on the popular Japanese online music show, performing a special version of their hit track “GENTO.” A few days later, on July 15, they made their return with a performance of the fan-favorite “MAPA.” At the time of writing, their two performances have collectively gained more than 4.5 millions views on YouTube already. Notably, they are the first and, to date, the only Filipino act to guest on the show.

On August 16, the Kings of P-pop announced that their all-new rendition of “GENTO” for the show is now available on all digital music platforms via Sony Music Entertainment. Meanwhile, their performance of the heartfelt “MAPA” will be released on streaming platforms within the next few days. Pre-save the track here.

“We’re eternally grateful to THE FIRST TAKE for giving us an opportunity to showcase our work on a platform known not just for its massive global following but for elevating the audio-visual experience of music fans with much-needed authenticity and rawness,” stated the “Moonlight” hitmakers in a press statement, noting how performing on the show challenged them to work within “within our limitations and deliver with the best of our abilities.”

“We’ve always considered performing as a sanctimonious process that deserves utmost preparation, love, and respect,” elaborated the quintet further. “Constantly reminded by THE FIRST TAKE that we can only perform the songs once, we had to reconnect with our roots and embrace the beauty of spontaneity.”
