Fresh off the announcement of her sixth studio album, rising pop star Sabrina Carpenter has just dropped a new teaser off the record with her latest single “Please Please Please.”
“Please Please Please” was accompanied by a cinematic music video, directed by Bardia Zeinali and starring Carpenter and her real-life boyfriend Barry Keoghan. Portraying a Bonnie and Clyde-esque couple, the couple navigates love through crime and imprisonment in a high-energy video that captures their sizzling chemistry perfectly. As she sings about begging her boyfriend not to embarrass her, it’s quite ironic that Carpenter casted her own boyfriend in an anthem about proving one wrong amidst negative expectations.
The track comes on the heels of Carpenter’s viral hit “Espresso,” which she released before performing at Coachella in April. “Espresso” currently holds the No. 5 spot on the Billboard Hot 100, having peaked at No. 4 on the charts. Both “Please Please Please” and “Espresso” stand as the first two teasers off of Carpenter’s recently announced record Short n’ Sweet, which is expected to be released this August 23, 2024.
Describing the forthcoming record, Carpenter teases that “This project is quite special to me and I hope it’ll be something special to you too,” she states through the caption of her post. Short n’ Sweet follows after her fifth studio album, emails I can’t send, which included the viral tracks “Nonsense” and “Feather” that have become recognized hits on their own. Prior to her time with Island Records, Carpenter was signed to Disney’s Hollywood Records and starred in the studio’s hit television series, Girl Meets World.
