Berlin-based South Korean musician and producer Peggy Gou is finally releasing her debut album this June
Entitled I Hear You, the “Starry Night” hitmaker is set to unveil her debut full-length this coming June 4, coming out via XL Recordings. It will feature her previously released hit tracks such as “(It Goes Like) Nanana”, “I Believe In Love Again” with acclaimed singer-songwriter Lenny Kravitz, and more. According to a press release, the album will see Gou “stepping into the next level of her artistry and boldly claiming her voice through the kaleidoscopic lens of ‘90s house music,” with Gou further elaborating, “I Hear You is more than just my debut album. It embodies countless hours of dedication in my journey to create something timeless, and is a testament to the power of listening, to ourselves and to each other.”
The album can be pre-ordered here.
Alongside the announcement of the album’s release, Gou unveiled her latest single entitled “1+1=11” alongside its accompanying music video – directed and starred in by her longtime friend and renowned Icelandic-Danish artist Olafur Eliasson. The album’s artwork also sees Gou wearing one of Eliasson’s works of art, the so-called “ring of ears” Psychoacoustic empathy amp. The album’s opening track “Your Art” will also see Gou recite a personal rendition of Eliasson’s “Your planet seen from within” poem, which was originally crafted to go hand-in-hand with his 2022 TIME magazine cover story.
Alongside the long-awaited release of her debut album, Gou is set to appear at the likes of Glastonbury, Coachella and Primavera festivals as well as her biggest headline show by far, slated to happen this August 17 at London’s Gunnersbury Park.
