After months of inactivity, beloved South Korean girl group NewJeans have made a surprise return, celebrating their fourth anniversary with a special film series.

On July 21, 2026 at 11PM PHT, the group unveiled 2026 Summer of NewJeans across their official YouTube channel and social media platforms. The release also included a fresh set of portraits featuring Minji, Hanni, Haerin, and Hyein.

The rollout’s centerpiece is a minute-long group film that follows the four members as they cross paths under the night sky before reuniting with intertwined hands. With its quiet and hopeful atmosphere, the film carries the nostalgic, cinematic aesthetic that has long defined NewJeans’ identity.

Accompanying the group film, the individual videos spotlighting each of the girls sees Minji driving during a day trip, Hanni playing the guitar amid lush greenery, Haerin waking from sleep into a slow day at home, and Hyein stopping for ice cream after a day of roller-skating.

Since its release, the main film has amassed millions of views, with fans celebrating the group’s long-awaited return while others expressed sadness over the absence of Danielle.

Originally debuting as a five-member group, NewJeans became embroiled in a lengthy legal dispute with their agency ADOR beginning in November 2024, after the members sought to terminate their exclusive contracts. Following a Seoul court ruling that upheld the validity of those contracts, the group resumed activities with the company in late 2025. In December 2025, ADOR announced the termination of Danielle’s exclusive contract.

The surprise rollout coincides with the girl group’s fourth debut anniversary, marking the release of their breakout single, “Attention,” on July 22, 2026. ADOR described the project as “created from the members’ shared wish to celebrate their fourth anniversary together with fans,” with the special film dedicated to the group’s fandom, Bunnies.
