Taeyong unveils new concept photos for his upcoming collaboration with Anderson .Paak titled “Rock Solid.”
Following the announcement of their collaboration, the NCT member took over his group’s social media on April 14 to share the teasers. The images show him wearing a classic white sailor uniform at a harbor, with a matching white yacht in the background, giving off a nautical-inspired concept.
On April 12, the K-pop artist also shared behind-the-scenes clips on TikTok of him working on the track, expressing excitement for fans to hear the full song. He posted photos with Grammy Award-winning rapper Anderson .Paak at a tattoo parlor, showing their casual time together in anticipation of the release, as well as the single’s cover art, featuring both artists’ face carved into a mountain in a playful nod to Mount Rushmore.
Set for release on April 17, the hip-hop track blends Taeyong’s strong rap style with Paak’s groovy, dynamic flow. It is characterized by repetitive chants and unique drum rhythms that highlight their musical synergy. According to SM Entertainment, the song reflects Taeyong’s “determination to protect what he has built so far and the confidence to continue proving himself without wavering.”
Beyond NCT, Taeyong continues to establish his artistry after previous solo projects: his 2023 album Shalala and the self-produced 2024 EP TAP. He recently wrapped his first solo Asian tour in Kuala Lumpur and is set to perform at KCON LA in Los Angeles this year.
The release of “Rock Solid” follows Taeyong’s recent military discharge and marks his first solo project in over two years. It also serves as a preview of his upcoming solo album set for release in May.
