Morissette is making a grand comeback for her 15th year as “Asia’s Phoenix” –– beginning with her latest single, “Ihilak Lang Na.”
The beloved musician recently dropped “Ihilak Lang Na” just before the new year, with the haunting ballad being released in her native language of Bisaya. On the track, the 29-year-old singer-songwriter embraces her roots and belts her heart out from the perspective of an individual who passes on their wisdom to someone who is set to experience life.
“Ihilak Lang Na” is co-produced by Shadiel Chan, Dave Lamar, and Morissette herself –– showcasing new colors of her wide vocal range, whilst adding an emotional depth that doesn’t sacrifice storytelling for its sound. Together with the track, the balladeer and her team also dropped its accompanying music video directed by Raliug, that tells the story of three generations of women. Watch the full music video below:
Taking to her social media accounts to talk about the somber yet heartfelt track, Morissette shares: “True to its theme, I’ve cried with this song a couple times in the past year navigating through my days ’cause sometimes, there are some things that just feel too heavy to carry in the moment, especially now that I’m an adult. this song became my comfort and quite frankly, sparked so much inspiration for the new music I will be dropping in the future. May this track remind you that you are stronger than you think and that you are not alone in going through the hardships in life. because maybe sometimes, all you need is a cry to finally let it all go,” she continues.
The newly released single is just the first of many more projects for Morissette’s busy year ahead, especially as she gears up to release her first co-written and produced album later this 2025.
