MNL48, the pioneers of P-pop idol culture, have officially returned with the announcement of their upcoming single, “Summertime.”

“Summertime” is expected to be released tomorrow, June 12 (Wednesday) on all available digital and streaming platforms. The news was shared on the group’s official social media platforms, with a sneak preview of the track also attached to their post online. The single was first teased last May 12, with glimpses of the recording process and forthcoming music video featured in the teaser. Since then, MNL48 has been building up the anticipation online for the single.

Just earlier this month, the group celebrated their 6th anniversary together with an intimate fan event titled “Through The Years,” which featured live performances, a fan meet, and surprise announcements — including a “sayonara” from one of the group’s aces, Coleen (also known as “The Original Baby of MNL48”) as she bid farewell from the group.

Since 2018, MNL48 has established themselves as one of the groups that have paved the way to the new era of the Philippine pop idol industry, and is known within the 48 Group as “Vocal Queens” for their singing ability. Internationally, they are recognized as the fourth international sister group of AKB48, after Indonesia’s JKT48, China’s SNH48 (who left the group in 2016), and Thailand’s BNK48.

The group found success with their debut EP, Pag-Ibig Fortune Cookie, which recently peaked at No. 2 on the iTunes Philippines chart earlier this year in February.
