Meet NJZ.

Beloved K-pop sensations NewJeans have officially rebranded as NJZ — marking a major shift for the group as they remain embroiled in an ongoing dispute with HYBE and its subsidiary ADOR. The announcement comes as NJZ is set to headline ComplexCon Hong Kong in March, which marks their first performance under the new moniker.

In an interview with CNN, member Hanni explained the decision behind the rebrand, calling it a way of “turning this rough period of time into something more exciting.” She emphasized that the group is “working a lot to resolve everything so that we can go… back to normal.”

Despite the legal and contractual tensions with their former agency, Hanni added that NJZ wants to shift the focus back to their music and career rather than ongoing disputes. Because aside from making their debut under the new name at ComplexCon HK, they are also set to premiere new music.

“We are thrilled to be stepping onto the stage for the first time as NJZ and share something new with everyone,” Minji mentioned in a press release relating to their headlining performance. “It’s a big moment for us, and we can’t wait for fans to be a part of this journey and show the world our new music that we have been eagerly waiting to share.”

Hanni further teased the group’s evolving sound and artistic direction, telling CNN that their next chapter will feel “very different” from their original image. “We also hope to experiment with different types of performances,” she added.

With new music on the way and a fresh start under NJZ, the group is making it clear that they’re ready to turn the page.
