Billboard Philippines Discover Artist LONER has dropped his latest single, “Ikaw Pa Rin” (Still You).
“Ikaw Pa Rin showcases a fresh sound that is rooted from my Make Noise EP (2021). I wanted to create another Tagalog alternative R&B track with two-step influences similar to my previous singles. I’ve been trying different sounds these past few years — looking for styles that felt more like me. This new single, ‘Ikaw Pa Rin,’ captures the spirit of my current influences,” the artist says to Billboard Philippines.
The track follows his three releases for the year, namely, “Ayoko Na” (I Don’t Want This Anymore), “Away From U,” and “Not 2 Much.” These are his first releases since his sophomore album, Make Noise, which was released in 2021. He was also recently included in the Sounds Nais electronic music compilation alongside Tarsius and other artists.
In an exclusive feature with Billboard Philippines as part of the platform’s first wave of Discover artists, LONER shared, “Moving forward, I wanna be less genre-specific. Syempre, the genre will still be revolving around dance music and all its subgenres. You can expect more alternative elements, more moody emotions, and some dream-like dance [aspects]. You can expect that I’ll always be growing, I’ll always be trying new stuff, and I hope the listeners can join me on the ride.”
LONER has been a mainstay in the country’s electronic scene. Most recently, he performed at Cebu’s largest indie music festival September Fever and the now-concluded AXEAN Music Festival alongside The Itchyworms, Ena Mori, Oh! Flamingo, and other regional artists from Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the like.
