Laufey is feeling the holiday spirit with her newly released “Santa Baby” cover.
The track marks the latest musical release for the jazz-pop darling, and it was dropped with an accompanying music video that stars renowned actor Bill Murray, the American Ballet Theatre’s Isabella Boylston, and Laufey herself. With intricate choreography by Alex Wong (So You Think You Can Dance, The Greatest Showman, Smash), there’s a whole lot to celebrate in the festive visualizer that welcomes the Christmas spirit. Check it out in its entirety below:
“Santa Baby” serves as the latest addition to her ‘A Very Laufey Holiday’ campaign, which first began in 2021 with her track “Love to Keep Me Warm featuring fellow singer-songwriter dodie, and was followed up by “The Christmas Waltz” in 2022 and “Christmas Dreaming” in 2023.
“I’m so excited to continue adding to A Very Laufey Holiday with my version of the holiday classic, ‘Santa Baby.’ It was so much fun creating this version, and the music video became the perfect visual representation of the track. We were so lucky to have Bill Murray and Isabella Boylston of the American Ballet featured in the video for this fun and festive story,” mentions the “From The Start” hitmaker.
Also last year, Laufey released a special holiday collaboration with the Grammy-winning Norah Jones for their two-track single Christmas With You, which featured a cover of “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” and a new co-written original, “Better Than Snow.” Just recently, it was announced that she is set to release her very first concert film, which chronicles her orchestral show at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. The film is directed by renowned director Sam Wrench (Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour) and is expected to be released this December 6, 2024.
