Pop icon Lady Gaga has just announced a special performance that will bridge the gaming community with her fandom of ‘Little Monsters’.

In a surprising collaboration, the singer made the announcement that she will be performing for Epic Games’ Fornite at their ‘Fortnite Festival’ event, which will take place tomorrow, February 22, 2024 (Thursday). This comes as a full-circle moment for her devout and chronically online fans, given that Gaga famously tweeted back in October 15, 2019; “What’s fortnight” –– to the delight of her fans and casual gamers on the internet. To formally mark the announcement, the “Rain On Me” hitmaker quoted tweeted her original tweet, correcting herself with the right spelling of the popular video game’s title.

Though no further details have been revealed so far, we can expect that Gaga’s appearance in the video game will signify her availability as a downloadable character for players –– echoing the platform’s collaborations with popular artists such as Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, and Travis Scott among others. Each of these artists were available on Fortnite’s in-game store for purchase, with unique skills, weapons, and abilities that are signature to their playable models.

In related news, Sony Music recently revealed their initiatives to bring the “next generation of immersive music experiences” to games like Fortnite and Roblox. Guided by digital entertainment veteran Brad Spahr, who has been recognized by Sony as an “award-winning developer of next-generation experiences at the intersection of music, immersive reality, and gaming,” the new division of the powerhouse label has continued its innovative journey over the past few years, pushing the intersection of where music meets technology and gaming.

For 2024, fans of Gaga can expect a lot more to come from the iconic pop visionary –– such as her highly-anticipated return to the silver screen for Todd Philips’ upcoming film Joker: Folie à Deux, as well as her upcoming studio album, the currently unnamed LG7.
