After close to five years of no new music, Kremesoda have made a grand comeback with their debut album For Years.
With the new record, the five-piece indie-alternative group has evolved their sound — refining it into a collection of eight tracks that lithely weave across the genres of soft rock, baroque pop, and a little chamber folk here and there. It’s a far cry from the Katip-core sound that they’ve become well-known for, yet it’s a significant step forward for the band’s artistry and willingness to explore new sonic frontiers. There’s a little bit of The Turtles’ influence here and there, alongside some sprinkles of Arctic Monkeys’ recent works, though the entirety of the record is undeniably Kremesoda at their most introspective, tender, and undeniably best state to date.
For Years marks the latest release from Kremesoda, following 2020’s “Architect of Dreams” and 2019’s “I Am A Ghost.” The album’s first single, “City Doesn’t Love You” and its titular track “For Years” had accompanying music videos dropped over the past few months, directed by Gelo Aldana and Sophie Habana respectively. Check out the music video to the latter below:
Kremesoda is comprised of Toots Orosa on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Lan de Lara on bass, Jamo Fevidal on drums, Duds Mitra on lead guitar, and keys, and Melo Monserrat on keys and synths. Orosa also embarked on his own solo career under the name Toots, having released his debut solo extended-play Jargon State in 2023.
