The Bicol region is hosting a special fundraising concert this November.
Announced on November 29, Musika Para Sa Bikol: Himig ng Bayanihan — “a night of music that brings together community and a shared love for one of the Philippines’ beloved regions” — is set to happen this December 6 at the Ibalong Centrum for Recreation or ICR in Legazpi City.
With help from a partnership between the Tourism Promotions Board and Live Nation Philippines, the event will serve to raise funds to aid those in Bicol affected by “widespread flooding, destruction of homes and infrastructure, devastation of agricultural lands, and disruptions to livelihoods, particularly in coastal and low-lying areas.”
The concert will feature a diverse, star-studded lineup of performers consisting of South Korean actor Kim Jisoo, British post-punk and glam metal act Gene Loves Jezebel, Norwegian new wave band Fra Lippo Lippi, and Bicol’s very own Tothapi. All net proceeds and donations from the concert are set to go towards “immediate relief efforts, as well as long-term recovery projects to help the region bounce back stronger than ever.”
Tickets to the show are at PHP 100.00 each. These ticket donations can be made online through the Philippine Red Cross website or in person at the show’s venue.
Aside from simply “raising funds for families affected by the recent string of typhoons,” Musika Para Sa Bikol: Himig ng Bayanihan is slated to be a concert that will “celebrate Bicol’s rich cultural heritage and its reputation as a premiere tourist destination, while showcasing the resilience of the Bicolanos and the region’s inherent beauty.” The show will also serve as “a reminder that Bicol is more than just a place — it’s an experience, a feeling, and a source of pride for all Filipinos.”
