Kendrick Lamar isn’t done with 2024 just yet.
Fresh off his series of career highlights earlier in the year, the Pulitzer Prize-winning rapper has released his sixth studio album GNX. The twelve-track album features executive production from Lamar and Dave Free, and co-production by Jack Antonoff, Sounwave, and Kamashi Washington among others, alongside vocal contributions from SZA, Sam Dew, Roddy Ricch, and more.
The surprise release comes after the renowned West Coast rapper had a whirlwind year dominating several charts worldwide with his Grammy-nominated hit, “Not Like Us,” which served as a public diss track against Canadian rapper, Drake. Lamar also held his legendary ‘The Pop Out’ Juneteenth concert alongside fellow West Coast rappers, such as Ty Dolla Sign, Steve Lacy, Tyler, the Creator, Roddy Ricch, Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock, and Dr. Dre.
Following the release of GNX, the multi-Grammy winning rapper is set to perform at the Super Bowl LIX halftime show in New Orleans, Louisiana, which will take place on February 9, 2025. He previously performed at the Super Bowl LVI halftime show at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, alongside co-headliners Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Mary J. Blige last 2022.
Also in 2022, Lamar dropped his fifth studio album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, which debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 immediately upon release, and won Best Rap Album at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards while receiving eight nominations, including one for Album of the Year.
