Jay R and Regine Velasquez-Alcasid have made an iconic collaboration with their latest single, “Eyes Only For Me.”
The R&B ballad features a new side of Asia’s Songbird, where she easily slips into a style of singing that’s perfect for the genre. Jay R is as excellent as ever, with his powerful voice and signature vocal runs filling up the song. The track premiered on Valentines Day.
Jay R released a series of videos on his Instagram, where he went behind the scenes of the collaboration. In the second part of the video series, he shows the viewers of what it was like to send the invitation to Velasquez-Alcasid.
“Hi Ate Reg,” he narrates, while typing the message on his phone. “I have an idea [that] I would love to run by you. Gusto ko sana mag-collab na kasama mo sa isang R&B song (I’m hoping to collab with you on an R&B song). It would be a dream come true for me.”
Jay R is set to perform his most iconic hits “Parachute,” “Blessed,” “Bakit Pa Ba” (Why), “I Got A Girl,” and “Tonight” on the February 16 episode of Billboard Philippines Studios. The show, which premieres episodes every other week, features the biggest names in the Filipino music industry performing reimagined versions of their shows. Velasquez-Alcasid performed in the series’ inaugural episode, with piano-only versions of “Dadalhin” (Bring), “Araw Gabi” (Day and Night), “Hinahanap Hanap Kita” (Looking For You).
