Jan Roberts explores the complexities of love with the release of his highly anticipated debut EP, Pusong Pabrika,
The five-track EP marks the “Sagip” hitmaker’s first collection of songs and was preceded by the singles “Kung Masusunod” with Filipino folk icon Johnoy Danao and “Selepono” with R&B/pop singer and “lutang” hitmaker jikamarie.
“I believe all of us are capable of feeling different kinds of love. We’re like factories; we constantly produce all sorts of emotions and create ways in which we can showcase love,” Roberts shares the meaning behind the project’s title.
Loosely translated into English as “Factory-Like Heart,” the EP explores the multifaceted nature of love, delving into themes of romance and love for family, friends, hopes, dreams, and oneself.
“While we have unique and different ways of expressing ourselves, ultimately, we all have hearts that continually create love,” he adds.

“I chose these five songs because together they represent different stages and emotions of love. There’s joy, yearning, hiding one’s feelings, acceptance, and hope,” Roberts explains how each song tells its own story, while all ultimately lead back to the heart.
With Pusong Pabrika, Roberts hopes listeners can hear his honesty through his signature sound while also opening themselves up to his artistic growth and musical direction moving forward: “[Through Pusong Pabrika,] I want to be known as an artist who creates music that people can easily relate to and can accompany them across the different chapters of their lives.”

Ahead of the EP’s release, Roberts wrapped up a regional run of shows across the Philippines with his Kung Masusunod Tour in July.
“[The tour] gave me so many unforgettable experiences and a lot of mixed emotions,” he shares. “The best part was meeting so many listeners, venue owners, promoters, and people who welcomed us everywhere we went. Ending the tour in Bicol, my hometown, was especially meaningful.”
Looking ahead, the release of the EP is only just the beginning. “I want to keep writing more songs, perform in more places, and collaborate with more artists. I also want to continue growing and exploring different sounds while staying true to who I am. I hope that more people will join us on this journey and make more memories through music,” he adds.
