K-pop sensation Chanyeol, known for his dynamic role in EXO, is stepping into the spotlight as a solo artist with his debut mini-album, titled Black Out.

With over a decade of experience under his belt, the 31-year-old singer is approaching this venture with the fresh enthusiasm of a rookie. “Today, I’m embracing the mindset of someone new to the scene, not a veteran with 12 years behind me,” Chanyeol shared during a YouTube livestream ahead of the EP’s launch. He confessed to feeling “excited, nervous, and thrilled” as he embarks on this new journey.

Together with the release of the six-track mini-album, Chanyeol also dropped the music video to the title track of the record, which highlights the vivid nightlife of Seoul’s streets. Despite the stunning visuals, the song still stands out as an uptempo pop-rock anthem, blending minimal acoustic guitar and synth elements. the EXO member explained that the song reflects the emotional turmoil following a breakup, likened to a blackout. Looking ahead, Chanyeol mentioned on the live stream that he expressed hopes of releasing a full-length album and is gearing up for his upcoming tour, ‘City-cape,’ which will see him perform in Manila this October 19, 2024, at the Araneta Coliseum. Tickets for the show are currently for sale and are priced from Php 3,500. (General Admission), Php 4,500 (Upper Box B), Php 5,500 (Upper Box A), Php 9,000 (Lower Box B), Php 11,000 (Lower Box A), and Php 12,500 (both VIP Seated and VIP Standing.)

Since his debut in 2012 with EXO, Chanyeol has been part of chart-topping hits like “Growl” and “Love Shot” and also collaborates in the sub-unit EXO-SC with Sehun, who is currently serving in the military. He also released two prior singles as a solo artist, including “Good Enough,” and “Tomorrow.”
