dwta Debuts New Single “Kung Ikaw Ay Masaya” As For New Film ‘Flower Girl’

Today (June 18, 2025), Bicolano singer-songwriter dwta has debuted her latest single “Kung Ikaw Ay Masaya,” as part of the original soundtrack for the freshly premiered film, Flower Girl, starring Sue Ramirez. Directed by Fatrick Tabada and written about the journey and experiences of womanhood, Flower Girl is currently showing in cinemas.

“When I watched the trailer, I already felt that the story was very different,” shared the artist in an official press release. “It’s not the usual love story you see in movies. That’s also how the song connects to the film. The original nursery rhyme is for kids but the way we used it in the song gave it a more serious feel, kind of like how the film talks about stuff people don’t usually talk about. It’s like both the song and the film took something familiar and made it feel more real and grown-up. It proves that even things that seem light can carry real weight.”

The song takes on a similar cadence to dwta’s earlier work from the past year, where she reinterprets nursery rhymes as modern-day hits, like “Sampung Mga Daliri,” a nostalgic track-turned-bittersweet duet with SB19’s Justin, and “Nasusunog (Pants On Fire).”
