Clara Benin is holding a special gig before heading to Sydney next month.

On September 16, the “small town” singer-songwriter announced that she is holding a send-off show in Manila before her highly anticipated performance at SXSW Sydney, which is set to happen from October 14 to 20. “[S]ydney has always been super close to my heart, so being able to share my music there feels extra special,” she stated in the announcement post. “[C]ome through and wish me luck before [I] fly out to sydney! [C]an’t wait to see you all.”

The send-off show is slated to happen on October 6 (Sunday) at Jess & Pat’s in Maginhawa, Quezon. Benin is set to be joined by I Belong To The Zoo as a special guest, with a promise of a long set, a meet & greet, as well as merch being available at the venue. Tickets will only be available at the venue, with a price of PHP 600 that comes with a free drink in the form of a cooler or a mocktail.

Benin’s participation at SXSW Sydney was first announced last June, with experimental pop artist Ena Mori being the only other Filipino on this year’s lineup. They follow the footsteps of math rock virtuoso Gabba who was the first and only Filipino to ever play SXSW Sydney last year.

Recently, Benin came out with a new version of her fan-favorite track “small town,” remixed by DJ and producer crwn. Prior to this, she released the Christmas-themed track “Can’t Wait to See You on Christmas Day” last November 17, 2023.
