Philippine indie darlings Clara Benin and Ena Mori are set to perform in this year’s South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival happening in Sydney this October.

The two musicians are the only Filipino performers that are scheduled to appear as the prestigious music festival, with over 60 acts having been announced as part of the first two waves of the lineup so far. The artists announced so far hail from various countries around the globe, including Australia, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, Taiwan, Australia, and the UK. Both the festival’s lineup and music program has been curated by SXSW Sydney’s programming team, Reg Harris and Ruby Miles, with each performer selected from over 1,200 submissions worldwide.

With SXSW Sydney taking place from October 14 to 20, 2024, festival goers and participants can find themselves in musical journey exploring a whole lot of talented acts — including multi-hyphenate artist and Heartbreak High star Ayesha Madon, Colombian psych-rock trio BALTHVS, 21-year-old Def Jam signee SAHXL, and Taiwan-based experimental pop group I’mdifficult, among others. Over the past few months, Clara Benin concluded her nationwide tour in support of her sophomore studio album, befriending my tears, while Ena Mori dropped her highly-anticipated comeback single “Heartache Generation” earlier this March. With the two expected to proudly represent Filipino talent on the global stage, there’s no doubt about their ability to charm international audiences with their distinctive styles as musicians in their forthcoming showcases.
