Marking their self-titled album’s 20th anniversary, Filipino rock band Chicosci are gearing up for their special anniversary show, A Toast to All Our Crimes: 20 Years of the Chicosci Album, and a much-anticipated vinyl launch.
Initially released on June 6, 2006, Chicosci leaned into a heavier post-hardcore and alternative rock route, in contrast to the then-prevailing trends of acoustic pop and “pogi rock.” Consisting of their hits “Chicosci Vampire Social Club,” “Seven Black Roses,” and “A Promise,” the album helped solidify the rock band’s crossover appeal and influence on the local music scene.
Commenting on what is considered as one of their most iconic records, guitarist Alcaraz describes the album as a test for the band, recalling, “In 2006, it was a strange time in OPM. For the first time, we decided to do everything ourselves — writing, recording, production, marketing, packaging, and distribution. It was our first step as an independent band, and we’ve remained that band since.”
Currently composed of Miggy Chavez on vocals, Mong Alcaraz on guitar, Eco del Rio on bass, and Victor Guison on drums, Chicosci are set to perform the whole album during their upcoming show at Soundcheck Inc. in Pasig City on June 6, 2026. Fellow Filipino rock band Kamikazee are also joining in on the night of celebration.
Vocalist Chavez expressed his anticipation, stating, “We’ve been rehearsing a lot for this show, and we’re excited for people to experience it — even our soundcheck, if they’re into that.”
Following its long-awaited digital release last October 18, 2023, the 2006 album Chicosci will also be released on vinyl twenty years after its initial drop. Serving as an answer to years of demand from longtime listeners and a way for younger audiences to discover their catalog, Chicosci commemorates the 20th anniversary of the record that became a testament to how far the band has come.
Tickets for the anniversary show are priced at PHP 1,666 for regular admission and PHP 2,666 for VIP tickets inclusive of soundcheck access, meet and greet, and merchandise. Fans can avail their passes here.
