Hyper-pop icon Charli XCX (also known as Charlotte Atchinson) has just released her long-awaited single “Von Dutch” –– which serves as the lead single to her recently-announced album, titled Brat.

The track was simultaneously released alongside an accompanying music video (directed by Torso), which sees Atchinson being followed around the halls of the Charles de Gaulle (CDG) Airport in Paris, France, wreaking havoc across the plane and luggage carousel of the busy venue. As the singer teased “Von Dutch” over the past few weeks, she also announced her sixth studio album Brat, which is currently slated for release this Summer 2024.

Described as “a club record” by Charli herself, the upcoming album will feature 15 songs and clocks in at a total of 41 minutes and 23 seconds. “I was born to make dance music”, said Charli on X (formerly Twitter). “I came from the clubs.. xcx6 is the album I’ve always wanted to make.” Though not many details have been shared regarding the project, avid fans of the pop star can expect production from frequent collaborator A.G. Cook, Gesaffelstein, Easyfun, and Hudson Mohawke.

Just recently, the “Boom Clap” hitmaker played her first Boiler Room set last February 22 in New York City –– a set which sold more than 25,000 tickets in less than one day. During the event, Addison Rae made a special guest appearance, wherein she and Charli performed a remix to “Von Dutch” which is expected to be released sometime later in March. Last year, she also contributed a track to the soundtrack of the blockbuster film Barbie, releasing “Speed Drive” which broke into Billboard’s Hot 100 chart during the time of its release. In 2022, the hyper-pop trailblazer released her sixth studio album, Crash, which was recognized as one of the 50 Best Albums that year by Billboard, ranking #17 on their list.

Next week, Charli is set to receive the ‘Powerhouse’ award at Billboard’s Women in Music event in Los Angeles, where she will be present alongside Filipina pop royalty Sarah Geronimo, K-pop phenomenons NewJeans, icon Kylie Minogue, and rising star Ice Spice among others in the venue. During the event, Geronimo will be present in person to be awarded the Global Force award –– making it a historic moment for Filipino talent on the global stage.
