Brat summer is still going strong –– as exemplified by the recently released remix to Charli XCX’s “Guess” featuring the one and only Billie Eilish.
Together with the track’s surprise release, a music video directed by Aiden Zamiri was also dropped –– showcasing both pop phenomenons climbing up a mountain of lingerie, which was delivered by Eilish who was driving a bulldozer carrying loads of laundry. Though the lyrics imply a suggestive message (Eilish’s sultry vocal performance further complements that), the duo’s verses in the song’s outro hint at a more pointed jab toward someone who the duo feels is obsessed with them.
Produced by The Dare and Finneas, “Guess” featuring Billie Eilish is just one of the latest entries to Charli’s continuous rollout for her brat era. Just recently, Lorde hopped on a remix to “Girl, so confusing” (a remix that felt more like a soul-baring conversation), while Robyn & Young Lean joined for a remix to “360.” The first remix track released for the brat rollout was a remix to the album’s first single, “von dutch” –– which featured special guest appearances from Addison Rae and Yung Lean.
The release of the track also marks the first-ever feature for Eilish, who has only released solo endeavors throughout her career. Both musicians recently released new full-length albums, with both brat and HIT ME HARD AND SOFT earning widespread critical acclaim and recognition as two of the year’s best albums released (so far.) In Billboard Philippines‘ review of brat, the record was described as “Charli at her most ambitious and experimental — and surprisingly at her most confessional,” making it a must-listen album of the year.
Charli has continuously said that more is yet to come with regard to brat’s rollout (even teasing a remix album), so both longtime and newfound fans can look forward to what comes next in the near future.
