BTSRM isn’t finished with his new era.

Fresh off the release of his sophomore album Right Place, Wrong Person, the BTS leader is set to become the focus of an upcoming documentary film that chronicles his experiences traveling across Seoul, Tokyo, and London — cities that served as the backdrop for RM’s creative process and artistic journey. As viewers get to witness a first-hand look at the inspiration behind the album’s visuals, the film also promises an intimate look at his creative vision in order to give fans a deep understanding of the artist behind the music.

It was also announced that the documentary film has been selected for the prestigious “Open Cinema” section at the 29th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), which will take place from October 2 to 11, 2024. Though the exact screening date of the feature still remains largely under wraps, the release teases that the movie will be presented in a “large-scale outdoor screening” at the Busan Cinema Center. This marks a historic moment for both the K-pop icon and the festival — as RM: Right People, Wrong Place becomes the first film centered on a K-pop artist to be officially selected for this section at Asia’s largest film festival.

Produced by HYBE and distributed by CJ 4DPLEX, the documentary offers a glimpse into RM’s introspective journey during the eight months leading up to his military enlistment in November 2023. Following the release of his debut solo album Indigo in December 2022, the film delves into the sessions for his second solo project, Right Place, Wrong Person, which dropped earlier this summer — with the documentary capturing RM’s “journey of self-discovery,” including how he channels his personal experiences and emotions into his sophomore album.

The release of Right Place, Wrong Person made a strong impact on the charts, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Rap Albums chart and securing the No. 5 spot on the Billboard 200 in June. Following its premiere at BIFF, fans can expect that RM: Right People, Wrong Place will be set for a global theatrical release later this year, giving ARMY members around the world a chance to experience RM’s artistic evolution on the big screen.
