BTS‘ RM and Megan Thee Stallion have just released another collaboration with the single “Neva Play.”
The track was officially announced by the Houston-based rapper on her official X (formerly Twitter) account, stating its official release date on September 6, 2024, at 1 p.m. (KST)/12 p.m. (PHST). Describing the feature, Megan Thee Stallion stated, “This is one of my favorite RM verses I’ve heard! I’ve never heard him rap in this style before.”
The official announcement comes after she first teased the track’s release through a cryptic tweet posted to her X account last August 30, merely showcasing a horse emoji and a purple heart emoji crossed. Fans were quick to speculate what was to come from both parties, right before the official X account of BTS reposted the tweet.
“Neva Play” marks the second collaboration of the “HISS” hitmaker and RM — following their work together on the remix to BTS’ smash hit single “Butter,” which dropped in August 2021. This particular remix of the track went on to claim the K-pop group’s 10th week at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100, showcasing just how powerful this musical duo could be.
Just recently, Megan Thee Stallion released her self-titled album MEGAN, which features the viral single “Mamushi” feat. Yuki Chiba. The track currently stands at the No. 49 spot on this week’s Billboard Philippines‘ Hot 100 chart (dated August 31, 2024), proving just how resonant the track continues to stand with Filipino listeners. RM also dropped his long-awaited sophomore album, Right Place, Wrong Person, earlier this May, which features collaborations from Little Simz, Moses Sumney, DOMi & JD Beck.
