P-pop phenomenons BINI have just released their first ever extended-play, titled Talaarawan. The highly-anticipated record features the hit tracks “Karera” and “Pantropiko“, as well as four new tracks –– including the EP’s lead single “Salamin, Salamin“.
Describing the EP during the Talaarawan media press conference last Wednesday, Sheena explained “Talaarawan means diary in English, and just like your diary, you write down your feelings, kung anong nangyari sa araw mo (what happens during your day), yung iba’t ibang emotions in one day (your different emotions in one day), and your diary [eventually] becomes your best friend. Just like with our EP, it’s a rollercoaster ride of emotions with our six songs and we want our blooms to feel that we are their best friends din.”
Adding to that, Maloi and leader Jhoanna also elaborate further on the record stating; “With the EP, it captures all the stages of love and life. So kunwari may feeling ka, may sagot yung Talaarawan for you. May song na bagay doon sa feelings niyo. Kung nalulungkot ka may “Nandiyan”, or kung masaya ka sa love life mo may “Salamin, Salamin”. Pag galit ka, meron din “Diyan Ka Lang”. Pag pagod ka na sa pag aaral, may “Karera”. may mga kwento talaga yung songs sa Talaarawan.” (With the EP, it captures all the stages of love and life. So, whatever feeling you have, Talaarawan has an answer for you. There’s a song that fits whatever feeling you’re experiencing. So if you’re sad, there’s “Na Na Nandito Lang”, or if you’re happy with your love life, there’s “Salamin, Salamin”. If you’re tired of studying, there’s “Karera”. So there are really stories within the songs of Talaarawan.)
Also during the same event, the group announced their first-ever solo concert as a surprise to their fans and members of the press, which is currently scheduled to take place this forthcoming June 28 (Friday) at the New Frontier Theatre.
As BINI’s first EP, Talaarawan follows the release of their full-length albums, Feel Good (2022) and Born To Win (2021). With their bubbly, carefree, and quirky image, the ‘nation’s girl group’ continues to reach new heights as their hit single “Pantropiko” has spawned countless dance videos on TikTok and has earned more than six million streams and has also peaked at #3 on Spotify Philippines Viral Chart and debuted at #38 on Spotify Global Viral Chart.
In a previous interview with Billboard Philippines, the group mentioned their aspirations moving forward in the industry –– hoping to “manifest world domination!” in their own words. BINI also recently performed on Billboard Philippines Soundwave, where they performed their viral hit “Pantropiko.” Watch it here.
