A new era is blooming for Ariana Grande as she finally confirms the release of her forthcoming eighth studio album, petal.

On April 28, the Grammy Award-winning artist shared the news on her social media with a series of black-and-white posts, announcing its release for July 31. She unveiled the album’s cover art featuring a close up shot of her smiling widely, hair messily fanned on her face, alongside an artsy video teaser with the caption, “petal in the pavement.”

The “One Last Time” hitmaker also shared behind-the-scenes clips showing the production of her 12-track album, in collaboration once again with co-producer and co-writer, Ilya. The Swedish songwriter-producer has previously contributed on Grande’s seventh LP, eternal sunshine, released in March 2024.

Fans have been buzzing with excitement for AG8 after Grande shared photos on Instagram of her working hard in the studio on April 8. She describes the upcoming album as “something that is full of life and growing through the cracks of something cold and hard and challenging.”

Released under BabyDoll Music in association with Republic Records, petal is reportedly the first album that Grande will own the masters to. It follows her critically acclaimed seventh album and its extended version titled eternal sunshine deluxe: brighter days ahead which came with additional six songs, including her recent chart-topping “twilight zone” and “dandelion.”

The announcement of her new era comes ahead of her Eternal Sunshine tour in June. It marks her first tour since 2019, after spending the last few years focused on acting. Most notable is her role in the Academy Award-winning film Wicked as Glinda the Good, which earned her nominations for Best Supporting Actress.
