Any Name’s Okay have whipped out a different kind of “Cake” than what we’re used to.

On the newly released single, the renowned indie group deviates away from their signature alternative-pop sound to embrace a more pop-punk-oriented influence that serves as a step forward for their artistry. Penned by lead singer Sof Abrogar and produced by Ysanygo’s Ygo Ferraz, it’s reminiscent of something you’ve heard in the early 2000s — albeit with a modern flair that is subtly sprinkled throughout its production. Tackling themes of angst, heartbreak, and moving on, “Cake” makes for a sweet slice of what to expect from the band’s ever-evolving discography especially as it leads up to the release of their debut album later within the year.

In a previous statement shared exclusively to Billboard Philippines, Any Name’s Okay described “Cake” as “a track where [the band] get to let out a lot of anger and resentment.” “It’s a tad far flung from what people are used to hearing from us, but it’s a way to test the waters of how far we can go on the album we’ve been writing towards,” they continue.

“Cake” follows their recent single “Tabing Dagat,” which was released late in October last year. In celebration of the new single’s release, the band is gearing up for a single launch party at Mow’s in Quezon City this February 28, 2025, wherein fellow OPM musicians such as SUYEN and ALYSON are also set to take the stage. Tickets to the show are still available here, with limited quantities available for pre-sale at Php 500 and Php. 600 for walk-ins.
