Cambio — the celebrated local rock supergroup consisting of members of Eraserheads, Sugarfree, Fatal Posporos, and more — will reunite for a one-off performance this week.

Composed of erstwhile Eraserheads Raymund Marasigan (Sandwich, Pedicab, Party Pace, and more) and Buddy Zabala (Moonstar88), Kris Dancel (Fatal Posporos, Duster, Peryodiko), Ebe Dancel (Sugarfree), and Diego Mapa (Eggboy, Pedicab, Tarsius, Monsterbot), Cambio released two acclaimed albums — 2004’s Derby Light and 2007’s Matic — and last performed in November 2019 for The Rest Is Noise’s All Of The Noise event. The band will reunite for GABOOM!, which happens this Saturday, October 26, at 123 Block in Mandaluyong City, at the special request of the event’s curator, Sandwich/Teeth/Pedicab drummer Mike Dizon.

For the past several years, Dizon has run a YouTube food vlog entitled Nagsimula sa Patikim-tikim (the opening line of his band Teeth‘s anthem “Laklak“), in which he has featured food establishments and dishes from old favorites to new discoveries, from around his neighborhood to his tours across the country and abroad with his bands. “Gaboom” is the highest rating he gives the food he samples, and is appropriately the title of the event he put together for Saturday. “Sa tingin ko, best excuse to get out of the house kung ‘yung pupuntahan mo may good music and good food (For me, it’s the best excuse to get out of the house if where you’re going has good music and good food),” says the veteran drummer and foodie.

Performing alongside Cambio are Dizon’s bands Sandwich, Teeth, and Pedicab, as well as One Click Straight, Blaster & The Celestial Klowns, and Party Pace. However, Dizon doesn’t exactly consider GABOOM! to be a festival, but “more of a gathering of friends lalo na may (especially since there’s a) reunion involved. [It will be] more of a celebration din kasi patapos na ‘yung 2024 (because 2024 is almost over).”

“Attendees can expect a big stage, food and merch booths, and solid sets from the performers,” adds Dizon, who also encourages people to bring their families and pets to GABOOOM! Pre-sale tickets are available for PHP 1000 each here until October 24, while walk-ins can purchase tickets at the gate on the day of the event for PHP 1500 each.
