Wish 107.5 Merges Music And Story In 12th Anniversary Celebration

Considering the sheer amount of cafe gigs and large-stadium concerts that occur year-round, it’s safe to say that live OPM productions form a significant part of the country’s music scene. With such a large number of performances being presented, it’s worth asking how live productions could be made into more innovative experiences. Celebrating its 12th anniversary last August 23, 2026, at the Araneta Coliseum, Wish 107.5 seemed to answer just that question.

Wish’s anniversary celebration — dubbed Wish Date: Unchanging Glass — invited seasoned artists Pops Fernandez and Renz Verano alongside the younger musical acts The Juans and dwta to the fray of the radio station’s unique production.

Narrative was the unifying thread that tied the whole celebration into one cohesive composition. Specifically, the event centered around the premiere of the original film Unchanging Glass, starring actors Zaijian Jaranilla, Yukii Takahashi, and Aljon Mendoza. The presentation of the short film was unique in itself, as it involved actors stepping in to act out some scenes live.

The film was also notably stretched out, with portions intermittently being interrupted. Within these “intermissions,” artists would step in to give their respective performances. However, rather than disrupt the story, the actors commented on how the unorthodox setup instead complemented the narrative.

“After we do a scene and then someone suddenly sings,” Jaranilla observed, “you understand the message they’re trying to convey even more. You can feel more deeply what the character wants to say. It was a very enjoyable experience.

Similarly, Takahashi shared, “I could really feel the connection with the audience through the acting and the song itself. I feel like they were in the scene with us. We brought them into the story.”

The unconventional interplay between film and music was something that not only the actors felt but the musicians as well. The fusion of live music with storytelling particularly caught Fernandez’s attention.

“The editing, the scoring, and the story are all beautifully done. What makes it special is the mix of different sounds, styles of singing, and artists — all coming together in one show and one concert,” The Philippine Concert Queen stated.

For Verano, it was the spectators that gave the evening something worth sharing, with the balladeer saying, “The reception from the crowd and the audience is always wonderful. Whenever I receive an invitation from Wish, I’m always willing to come with open arms.”

Throughout its history, Wish 107.5 has given a platform for both seasoned hitmakers and emerging artists. For The Juans, performing at the station’s 12th anniversary showed not only how far it had progressed, but also how much the group themselves evolved as artists through the years, so much so that the performance in the Coliseum was a full-circle moment.

“We’re honored because we’ve been with Wish since we were just starting,” the Bulacan-based band shared. “Wish was actually the first to produce our first concert at Araneta. This place is very sentimental to us. To be back and perform for Wish again makes us feel like we’re part of this family. Being celebrated by the Wishers is something we will always be grateful for.”

For dwta as well, the celebration was the moment that allowed the pop folk singer-songwriter to reflect on how far she’d gone throughout her career.

“When I was younger, I would only see them on TV and sing along to their songs,” the singer shared. “I used to think that if I could just watch them perform in person one day, that would already make me happy. But now, I’m seeing them perform while I’m also one of the performers.”

The singer also got the opportunity to perform” “The Hourglass,” an original composition that served as the production’s official soundtrack.
