Coldplay has just announced their tenth studio album, Moon Music.

Their long-awaited follow-up to 2021’s Music of the Spheres is scheduled to be released on October 4, 2024. The album’s first single, “feelslikeimfallinginlove,” will be released globally this Friday (June 21). The band performed the song for the first time during their sold-out stadium show at Budapest’s Puskás Aréna, which can be viewed in its entirety here.

Produced by Max Martin, Moon Music marks a bold new direction for the group as they go in tandem with the ground-breaking sustainability measures on their current tour to make the physical release of the album as sustainable as possible. The record will be the world’s first album to be released as a 140g EcoRecord vinyl and EcoCD, with each copy originating from nine recycled PET-plastic bottles and recycled polycarbonate, which provides a 78%-85% reduction in CO2 emissions/kg in the manufacturing process of the album. In their efforts to reduce waste, the first edition run of Moon Music on physical formats will be strictly limited and individually numbered, and produced at a higher specification than any future editions.

Moon Music is the second volume in Coldplay’s Music Of The Spheres album trilogy, following the 2021 record of the same name, which spawned the single “My Universe” featuring BTS, and topped the Billboard Hot 100 upon its debut. Since its release, Music Of The Spheres has already accumulated over four billion streams worldwide, and was nominated for Album of the Year at the 2022 Grammy Awards.

Earlier this year, the band performed in the Philippines for a sold-out two-night performance at the Philippine Arena. On the first day of their Philippine show, lead singer Chris Martin surprised audiences with a spontaneous performance of Lola Amour‘s “Raining In Manila” during the show’s encore, before inviting the band to perform on stage with him. The next night had Martin inviting Dilaw to perform “Uhaw” with him on stage for the second and final encore of their Philippine stop.
