Musician, artist, and journalist Lourd de Veyra joins Billboard Philippines Editor-in-Chief Bret Jackson in this week’s episode of Billboard Philippines Volumes.
In this episode, de Veyra opens up about the important life lessons he learned from his career, from the inevitability of being a musician to being a professional journalist. He also talks about the value of integrity, his insights on the current music scene and new artists, as well as “dancing lessons with God.”
“Unexpected changes in life’s itinerary are like dancing lessons with God,” he says, quoting American writer Kurt Vonnegut. Aside from his journalism work as well as TV show, Word of the Lourd, he is best known for his musical work with jazz-fusion rock band Radioactive Sago Project and noise rock outfit Kapitan Kulam.
Last week, Filipino-American producer and musical director Troy Laureta joined the show to talk about his origin story as well as how he reconnects with his Filipino roots through projects with artists like Martin Nievera and the like. Two weeks ago, Zild joined the show and opened up about his journey from being in a band to debuting as a solo artist.
The other flagship programs of Billboard Philippines’ media channels include Studios, which features reimagined versions of an artist’s biggest hits, and Soundwave, the media platform’s show that showcases the trending songs in today’s music industry.
Episodes of Soundwave are uploaded on TikTok every Monday. Episodes of Volumes are uploaded on Spotify every Wednesday, while episodes of Studios premiere on YouTube every second and last Friday of the month.
