Veteran Filipino singer Martin Nievera is set to commemorate 42 years in the industry with a concert this September 27.

The concert, titled ‘The King 42Ever,’ will take place at the Araneta Coliseum. As of writing, no ticket details have been released. Watch this space for more updates.

In a press conference for the concert, Nievera shared, “It’s a miracle actually, 42 years…One of the best things to ever achieve in one’s career, 42 years or those who lasted longer, is not the accolades, the awards, the titles, the big paychecks, those things are forgotten about, the most that we can ask for is to be remembered, for me that is the biggest award and accolade that I could be proud of.”

Last May 19, he revealed a teaser of the concert, with the caption, “The King is back at the Dome.”

He also revealed that fellow singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid was the one who convinced him to put on a concert. “I’ve been comfortable where I have been but Ogie Alcasid seems to think that I could do big venues again, we’ll see.”

Nievera has been hailed as the Philippines’ “Concert King,” who over the years, has staged large concerts in various venues across the Philippines and the world. Some of his most notable venues include the Music Center’s Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, the Hollywood Bowl, and more. His 25th anniversary concert was also held at the Araneta Coliseum last February 2008. At the time, acclaimed composer Louie Ocampo was the musical director for the event. In Nievera’s caption for the 42nd anniversary concert, he also tagged Ocampo in the post, although it is unclear yet if he will assume the role of musical director again.
