SB19 have officially entered a Billboard Japan chart for the first time.

On September 25, 2025 (Thursday), Billboard Japan revealed the new rankings for its Top Albums Sales Chart — the component chart of the Japan Hot Albums chart that specifically tracks physical album/EP sales in Japan, officially updated weekly every Thursday (JST). A significant new entry on the chart comes in the form of SB19’s Simula At Wakas, as it makes its debut on the chart at No. 17 this week.

This makes the P-pop icons the first ever Filipino group to enter the chart, with an estimated 3,578 units in nationwide sales for the EP this week. Notably, the physical copy of the EP was released a week prior on September 17, 2025.

Notably, SB19 member Ken, under his solo artist moniker Felip, previously entered the Japan Top Albums Sales Chart last July 28, 2024 with his debut solo album 7sins. It took the No. 23 spot on the chart, while simultaneously achieving the No. 25 position on the Japan Hot Albums chart, which also take into account an album’s digital sales and streaming numbers.

SB19’s debut on the Billboard Japan Top Albums Sales chart this week sees them officially having entered into the chart rankings of three different Billboard editions across the world. In relation to Simula At Wakas alone, “DAM” — the lead single of the EP — debuted on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales Chart at No. 1 last March 2025, while all songs from the EP simultaneously ranked on the Billboard Philippines Hot 100 during the week of May 10, 2025.

Additionally, SB19 entering the Billboard Japan Top Albums Sales chart coincided with the sold-out Tokyo stop of their world tour in support of Simula At Wakas. It was held during the evening of September 24, 2025 at Zepp Haneda in Ota City. Significantly, the Kings of P-pop performed “Kapangyarihan” — a collaboration song with Filipino folk-pop icons Ben&Ben that calls out abusive people in power, vocally showcasing their solidarity with the Filipino people amid the on-going national controversy of ghost flood control projects among others issues of corruption plaguing the country.

Notably, the song became a major anthem during the recent September 21, 2025 nationwide rallies in protest of these issues, which coincided with the 53rd anniversary of Martial Law in the Philippines. In particular, Ben&Ben performed the song during the ‘Trillion Peso March’ at the EDSA People Power Monument in Quezon City, urging everyone in attendance to hold corrupt politicians accountable and to stand their ground together.

Before SB19 performed the track during their Tokyo concert, each member gave a short speech, declaring that, while they were unable to attend the aforementioned rallies, they are one with their fellow Filipinos in calling for accountability, justice, and an end to corruption in the Philippines. “Hindi lang bilang isang Filipino, as an artist na rin, ang pagtungtong at pagpe-perform sa entablado ay ang paraan namin nang pagprotesta,” stated Stell in his speech. “Wala man kami sa kalsada sa mga panahon o araw na nangyari ‘yon, pero buong-buo ang suporta namin para sa lahat nang lumalaban, para sa lahat nang sumisigaw ng hustisya sa korapsyon at pagnanakaw sa kaban ng bayan.”

(“Not just as Filipinos, but as artists as well, the act of going up and performing on stage is our way protesting. We may not have been in the streets during the time or the day that happened, but we wholeheartedly give our support for all of those fighting, for all those who are crying out for justice against corruption and the theft of our nation’s wealth.”)
