On this week’s chart update, KATSEYE stand as one of the biggest jumpers on Billboard Philippines‘ Hot 100 (dated September 7, 2024)

Jumping twenty spots from their position last week at No. 61, their breakout single “Touch” has reached a new peak position of No. 41 on the Philippines Hot 100. Reacting to the news of the track’s placement on the chart, the members of KATSEYE share their excitement at achieving such a feat via an exclusive statement shared with Billboard Philippines.

“We’re so excited [about it],” says Daniela, while Lara also adds “We’ve been hearing people talk all about it ever since that happened — including us!”

Adding to their reactions, leader and sole Filipina member Sophia shares what such an achievement means to her, even stating, “My heart just dropped when we found out. Because the whole reason why I joined [KATSEYE and Dream Academy] is because I wanted to be able to represent my people. As someone from the Philippines, I really wanted to represent the country — and the fact that we [the girls of KATSEYE] are all collectively in this chart is such a big deal for me.”

“To be able to chart within the Top 100 songs in the Philippines is actually insane, so it’s nice to know that all the people I know — like my family and friends at home, and everybody else — is listening to our music truly means the world. It hits really close to home, so it’s like my heart is genuinely so full at the moment. We really hope [as well] that we get to hit all the charts all over the world!” Sophia concludes.

In the track’s three weeks on the Philippines Hot 100, “Touch” made its debut on the chart earlier last August 21 and has continued to ascend the ranks with every week that passes by. Several factors come into play with regard to the track’s movement up the chart — including the release of their debut extended play (EP), SIS (Soft Is Strong), or the growing popularity of the newly released Netflix documentary series Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE. With the trajectory of the multinational girl group continuing to soar even higher over time, one can only assume that this isn’t the last we’ll be seeing of “Touch” on the Billboard Philippines‘ charts.

The Billboard Philippines Hot 100 ranks the biggest songs in the country, based on streaming data (both audio and video) collected by data provider Luminate. The chart encompasses tracks by both Filipino and international acts. The Hot 100 is one of Billboard Philippines‘ official music charts, alongside the Top Philippine Songs chart. Both charts will be updated weekly every Wednesday.
