The Hallyu Wave has washed over the Philippine sonic landscape.
This week on the Billboard Philippines Hot 100 Chart (dated January 25, 2025), we welcome six special entries by various South Korean artists. Following their previous reign at the top spot of the Hot 100, ROSÉ and Bruno Mars are currently placed at No. 7 with “APT,” while after previously peaking at No. 10, BTS’ Jimin stands at the No. 34 spot with “Who.”
His co-member Jungkook’s collaboration with the rising rap artist Latto, “Seven,” currently sits at No. 59. Two tracks off ROSÉ’s debut album rosie are also on the chart, with “toxic till the end” and “number one girl” at the No. 67 and No. 71 positions respectively. Rounding off the K-pop tracks on this week’s chart is BTS’ V’s “Winter Ahead” with Park Hyo Shin at the No. 94 spot.
With fresh releases in the South Korean music industry and the imminent return of the third generation of K-pop artists, the growing listening sphere of the Philippines is embracing a vibrant and diverse set of new sounds. As prominent South Korean musicians shall soon visit the Philippines in 2025 for the upcoming IAM K-POP concert and Waterbomb festival, it’s an exciting time to be a K-pop fan.
The Billboard Philippines Hot 100 ranks the biggest songs in the country, based on streaming data (both audio and video) collected by data provider Luminate. The chart encompasses tracks by both Filipino and international acts. The Hot 100 is one of Billboard Philippines‘ official music charts, alongside the Top Philippine Songs chart. Both charts will be updated weekly every Wednesday.
