Cup of Joe have just made history as the first Filipino act to debut on the Billboard Global 200.
The breaking news for the Baguio-based band came as Billboard updated their weekly chart rankings, showcasing the group’s viral hit “Multo” positioned at the No. 181 spot of the Billboard Global 200 chart. Aside from making its way into the Billboard Global 200 chart, Cup of Joe’s “Multo” also makes its way to the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart at No. 74, which marks the highest debut and the first Filipino song to reach the Top 100 of the chart. The song follows the success of Juan Karlos‘ “ERE,” which debuted at the No. 138 spot on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart in October 2023 and was recognized as the first Filipino song in history to appear there.
“Multo” was first released last September 14, 2024, and served as the lead single off Cup of Joe’s debut album, Silakbo. The track has continued to gain prominence across various local streaming and digital platforms, alongside an influx of social media posts and video edits on Instagram and TikTok that have used the song.
The Billboard Global 200 tracks this week’s most popular songs based on streaming and sales activity from over 200 territories around the world — including the United States — as tracked by Luminate. The ranking is based on a weighted formula incorporating official-only streams on both subscription and ad-supported tiers of leading audio and video music services, plus download sales from top music retailers across the globe.
