We’re heading back to Oz! Universal Pictures has unveiled the official trailer for Wicked: For Good, the sequel to the 2024 hit musical Wicked, has been released.

After the events of Wicked, the near-three-minute trailer teases the fate of Elphaba, who is now labeled as “The Wicked Witch of the West,” with her disappearance eventually setting the stage for a fallout in the Land of Oz. Living in exile within the Ozian forest, she continues to her fight for the freedom of the silenced Animals with the goal to expose the truth she knows about The Wizard.

Directed by Jon M. Chu, the second chapter concludes the two-part film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical. The sequel will see the return of Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba. They are joined by Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard of Oz, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Marissa Bode as Nessarose Thropp, Bowen Yang as Pfannee, and Ethan Slater as Boq Woodsman.

Wicked premiered in the Philippines on November 20, 2024. As expected, it was a massive hit, grossing over USD 756,000,000 worldwide, and becoming the highest-grossing Broadway adaptation ever.

Additionally, the film garnered a total of ten nominations at the 97th Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actress for Erivo, Best Actress for Grande, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, and Best Original Score. It won two, for the Best Costume Design and Best Production Design categories.
