Over the years, many of our favorite musicians, from iconic rock bands to or world-renowned pop stars have shown that they are no mere single-skilled specialists. A lot of them go on to dabble in other fields and avenues and successfully find their very own voices in these ventures. Whatever it may be: visual art, acting, writing, photography, or, of course, fashion.
From being ambassadors for either established names or up-and-coming brands to actively having a hand in conceptualizing and designing their very own collections in collaborations with them, our favorite artists continue to bridge fashion and music in more ways than one. These have produced some of the finest and most unique articles of clothing, headwear, accessories, shoes, and more. Many of them, to this day, a lot of us would still want to own for ourselves.
With that, Billboard Philippines compiled together some of these sought after collborations we’re and a lot of people are still not over.
Jackson Wang’s Team Wang Design x FILA FUSION: 「DONG」
If you’re a fan of Jackson Wang, then you would know how, beyond him being the global star that he is today, his life revolved completely around sports at one point. The Magic Man, who is known for having been a fencer before becoming a full-blown performer, was even preparing for the London Olympics at one point. Which is why when the GOT7 member and his label’s Team Wang Design partnered up with sport brand FILA, it felt like a match made in heaven.
Dubbed as「DONG」, the “crossover collaboration capsule” was overseen by Wang himself. In an article on Team Wang Design’s website, the collection is said to represent “both ‘East’ and ‘Movement’, aiming to convey the empowering belief behind the collaboration — Movement from the East.” It features a variety of sportswear in a combination of blue and black, including sports jackets and sweatshirts.
Jennie x GENTLE MONSTER
Jennie of BLACKPINK has had a successful history of collaborations with the hit eyewear brand GENTLE MONSTER in the past few years. Good news is, she just announced her latest collection with them, just in time for the perfect fashionable summer.
Entitled “Jentle Salon”, this follows her first two link-ups with them, Jentle Home in 2020 and Jentle Garden in 2022. The collection currently has a pop-up running in Manila from May to the end of June with a diverse selection of offerings to choose from, including multiple unique sunglasses alongside a bunch of charms to decorate them.
Turnstile x Converse
Grammy-nominated hardcore punk group Turnstile caused a bit of a frenzy amongst their fans earlier this year when they announced they were putting out limited edtion Converse sneakers in collaboration with the shoebrand. The collection featured two designs: an all-white one on a One Star Pro which features a pink star in reference to their breakout album Glow On as well as an all-black Chuck 70’s design which features paint-like graphics akin to the band’s tour posters at that time.
DAY6 x Musinsa: UNDERTONES “My Days” Collection
Beyond their heartfelt songs that always seem to fit every mood, did you know that Korean pop-rock band DAY6 have also released a few collections of clothes?
in 2021, they collaborated with the clothing brand UNDERTONES, becoming the ambassadors for one of its new collections while releasing a few piece of their own. Most memorably was the “My Days” collection, inspired by the band’s music and their fans, the My Days. It featured a run of sweatshirts with individually unique artwork meant to allude to each member of the band.
G-DRAGON and PEACEMINUSONE x NIKE: G-Dragon Kwondo 1
The multifaceted icon known as G-DRAGON and his brand PEACEMINUSONE have collaborated with the shoe brand Nike a bunch of times already. Each time, they came out with a brand-new pair of shoes that were all the rave worldwide. Today, we spotlight the BIGBANG leader’s latest collaboration with them: the Nike x PEACEMINUSONE G-Dragon Kwondo 1. On Nike’s website, the limited edition design is described as “a masterclass in contrast, harnessing a classic dress shoe aesthetic for the streets. The crafted wingtip upper sports intricate brogue detailing and a removable lace shroud. Embroidered daisies decorate the heel and signature branding pushes the look one step further.”
SB19 x Chynna Mamawal x CASA
Who could forget this one? When SB19 officially entered a new era with their comeback track “What?” in 2021, their A’TIN were blessed with not only a new song to jam to but, later on, the perfect fits to match it.
A collaboration between the Kings of P-pop, Filipino designer Chynna Mamawal, and fashion brand CASA, these limited edition streetwear pieces were inspired by the explosive SB19 single. The collection quite a number of designs, some specifically dedicated for women and for men. Many of the designs were limited to 100 apiece.
