Taylor Guitars And HBO Max Team Up To Release Acoustic Guitar Inspired By The Last Of Us

If you’re a fan of The Last Of Us, you can now get yourself an official copy of the guitar played in the show.
On May 23, 2025, American guitar manufacturing company Taylor Guitars announced that they have joined forces with video streaming service HBO Max to create an exact replica model of the acoustic guitar played by lead characters Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) in the show. “Built to Taylor’s highest standards, it’s more than a collector’s piece — it’s a playable tribute to resilience, memory and music that endures,” stated Taylor in their announcement.
The guitar — dubbed the “Taylor 314c The Last of Us Replica Grand Auditorium Acoustic Guitar” — is based on the guitar that appears in Season 2, Episode 6 of the post-apocalyptic survival series. In the episode, Joel surprises Ellie with the acoustic guitar as a birthday present, with him playing and singing Pearl Jam’s “Future Days.” The scene serves as a reference to the scene in the acclaimed video game of the same name that the show is based on, where Joel also plays the guitar and gifts it to Ellie. The guitar notably has a moth design on one of its frets carved by Joel based on a drawing done by Ellie.
The official replica of the guitar is features the same inlay moth design “in grained ivoroid,” a “Tobacco Sunburst top treatment with full-body satin finish,” “solid spruce top and sapele body yield clear, warm midrange voice,” and comes with a deluxe hardshell guitar case.
